AMA - Ask Me Anything

Ask-me-anything, investor, member, customer, fan club, zoom chat.

That’s a mouthful. :) In my last newsletter, I had an open call for anyone in our network with interest in investing in our next location. I have had many wonderful conversations since then, and I believe I have found the best solution for financing. The simplest way to describe it is a crowd-funded loan. The company that facilitates everything is called The SMBX. There is a 60-day offering to gather support. However much money I raise gets sent over to me to start the spa build, and 30 days after closing, I start paying everyone back, just like I would a bank. What I love about this company is that you can be an investor with as little as $10, and there is no cap to the amount you can invest. If you have $200k?! Cool, I’ll use it wisely. I have done my due diligence, and I feel that it aligns well with our values and feels very grassroots. I would much rather give my community an 11% return on their investment versus the government or the bank. :)

After fielding many questions in regard to my growth strategy, I realized there are many people curious about this next chapter. A lot of questions are not necessarily from the investor standpoint but out of simple curiosity within our regular customer base and just instagram fans, ha.  What will happen to the current spa? How much money will I need? What will the spa look like? What’s the 5-year, 10-year goal, etc. I realized quickly that I wasn’t going to be able to do the standard meet-with -everyone-one-on-one route, and the easiest and most thorough way to communicate the plan and field questions is if we do it on the Internet. It’s not nearly as personal, and it makes me somewhat nervous, as I am not fantastic at technology, but let’s do it awkwardly together!

I am notorious for oversharing, and I’m told that I’m a pretty good story-teller, so I hope this is both entertaining and informative.

      My rough outline for the meeting is as follows:

• Quick history of how I started the spa

• My mission within this industry

• Finances and growth projections

• My second location vision

• My short-term and long-term Portland market growth strategy

• How the SMBX process works

• My grassroots marketing strategy for a successful fund-raising campaign
  

Then Question and Answer time! yippee! (I might pepper in some question time between sections if it feels right.)

My plan is to record the meeting and use some of the sound bites and clips for a promotional video for our crowd-funding launch. If you can’t make the January 15th meeting, no sweat!
